As the Baystate Sr. Tax Analyst you will be under the direction of the Manager of Tax Compliance is responsible for performing a variety of tax compliance, reporting and consulting functions for Baystate Health and subsidiaries.
Duties will include assisting with coordination of tax return process for BH and affiliates as well as tax return and work paper preparation. Assist the Manager of Tax Compliance with IRS Form 990, Form 990t and State tax return preparation including complex schedules for unrelated business income, related party transactions, and compensation reporting. Additional tasks includes research of inquiries and new tax issues, providing tax guidance and support to other departments related to various tax issues including employee compensation, independent contractors, resolving notices from tax authorities. Provides support for tax exempt bond private use monitoring and other assigned projects related to tax exempt debt. Analyze and review tax issues and areas of tax returns as needed. Assist Payroll with payroll tax filings and coordination of all Baystate Health and subsidiaries annual tax filings.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Ensure that tax returns are prepared accurately and tax work papers are prepared accurately.
Includes work related to various filings of original and amended payroll tax returns and reconciliations.
Prepare tax analyses and work papers that clearly show audit trails and sources of data.
Collaborate with accounting, human resources and payroll, finance and operating departments to address issues that arise.
Assist with preparation of well-reasoned tax memorandums as appropriate
Use tax, spreadsheet and other software to increase efficiency.
Assist with Tax Exempt Bond Compliance for optimal Policy and Procedures for Bond regarding post-issuance tax exempt bond compliance.
Assist Payroll with preparation of payroll tax returns
Assist with setup and administration of tax reporting systems including training of users
Other tax compliance projects and planning projects as deemed appropriate
At least 3 years of healthcare accounting or tax experience, knowledge of federal and state tax requirements relating to nonprofit organizations, experience with general ledger, tax compliance, tax preparation and spreadsheet software is highly preferred.
CPA or MBA is preferred
