Reporting to the CFO, this position will be responsible for all accounting functions including, but not limited to, general ledger and technical accounting in accordance with US GAAP, management of accounts payable, payroll and capital expenditures, oversight and development of the team, all auditing and tax related matters, implementation and development of scalable systems and internal controls. This position will serve as a key business liaison for the organization.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Key Finance resource which assures the propriety of all financial reporting. This includes assurances of proper trial balance and detail, its compilation into US GAAP and reporting of covenants, and finally, conversion to German GAAP.
Lead monthly financial close and reporting process including timely and accurate internal reporting of results
Research technical accounting matters and prepare recommendations with respect to implementation of new or newly applicable accounting guidance.
Have strong manufacturing background, versed from prior experiences in understanding cost, manufacturing standards or rates, and evaluated opportunities to leverage profitability
Manage the capital expenditure process, including understanding and prioritization of requests.
Implement and maintain an Internal Control over Financial Reporting (“ICFR”) environment modeled in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Lead and develop Accounting staff
Lead the Company’s annual financial audit as well as other audits as required.
Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual review and filings for tax compliance matters are completed on a timely and accurate basis, including Federal and state income tax, state sales & use tax and excise tax.
With closely with the Sr. Director of FP&A on ad hoc analyses
Liaise with IT Department in business system implementation/upgrade, including vision for cost center structures and chart of accounts
Manage relationships with key service providers
Serve as key business resource for organizations
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MS/MBA preferred
Active CPA required
6+ years of progressive accounting experience with a BIG 4 firm including time at Manager level
5+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller at a manufacturing company
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley/ICR control implementations
Experience in high growth, fast-paced, matrixed organizations preferred
Strong technical US GAAP skills required, including experience with white paper and position memo construction required. Working knowledge of German GAAP, IFRS and international business/accounting experience a plus. Prior ASC 606 implementation preferred.
Prior experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP, Infor, etc. is strongly preferred
Business systems implementation experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact directly with senior management
Strong in all Microsoft office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Hands on with willingness to dig into detail to understand root causes and solve problems
Self-driven, intellectually curious individual with high sense of personal ownership
Looks beyond the status quo to the way things should be, unafraid to address obstacles standing between today and the ideal future state
