STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE , Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF)-Accounts Receivable (AR) , to support the reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to accounts receivable, including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts. Responsibilities include generating monthly cost reimbursable, scheduled, and letter of credit invoices for federal and non-federal sponsors and generate off-cycle invoices; invoicing and benefits accounting for general receivables; assisting with monthly close process and the review of quarterly AR-related close schedules; supporting the preparation of monthly reports and training sessions; assisting MIT departments, labs, and centers and groups internal to VPF; collaborating with a wide variety of individuals across MIT; and other performing duties and projects as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; at least one year of financial accounting/audit experience and at least one delivering customer service to a wide constituency; ability to swiftly identify issues and escalate to management as necessary; strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to ensure the timely delivery of all responsibilities/assignments; discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive/confidential information; collaborative approach to work; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); flexibility; comfort working with minimal supervision and strict deadlines; and willingness to learn new tasks, take on new assignments, support team initiatives, and pitch in on all tasks. PREFERRED : experience with accounts receivable and collections processes at large educational research universities/businesses with significant AR intake and volume; knowledge of financial operations of nonprofit organizations, especially colleges and universities; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems; and MIT experience.
