WBUR's Business Partnerships team is seeking a highly motivated Account Executive for its Core Business Group. Create partnerships that are media driven and aim to deliver on key media goals while primarily leveraging our core media platforms including local and national broadcasts, podcasts and on-demand audio, digital display and newsletters, live events, and custom content. The ideal candidate is smart, ambitious, resourceful and naturally curious, and has previous experience in advertising sales - either in media/publisher sales or on advertising agency media planning or buying teams. The Account Executive will be an integral part of the Business Partnerships team and reports directly to the Sales Manager, Business Partnerships. Remote, US candidates will be considered for this role. Our office location is in Boston.
Responsibilities:
- Renew and expand current and past client partnerships and break new business by developing and deepening relationships with our partners and by using data and insights from current or past campaigns.
- Identify new opportunities to grow existing revenue while leveraging WBURs unique capabilities to generate additional revenue.
- Cultivate and sustain strong, senior level relationships directly through the client and across multiple divisions.
- Expand our podcast and live event sponsorship revenue and grow existing single platform tactical partnerships into creative, multi-platform ones across multiple WBUR touchpoints.
- Develop and deliver winning, cross-platform programs and proposals that lead to lasting and successful underwriting and sponsorships with a focus on integrated selling.
- Leverage deep knowledge and understanding of the marketplace, categories, media and advertising business (both non-commercial and commercial media), and trends to design custom partnership solutions that drive revenue growth.
- Lead account conversations with key internal partners to evaluate account performance, develop short and long-term strategies and discuss/act upon optimization opportunities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive roster of partners and solutions and engaging diverse viewpoints to meet the needs of both our partners and our audience.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience in media sales with a successful track record selling smart and creative solutions that transcend traditional sponsorship.
- Strong relationships on both client side and agency side.
- Ability to be proactive, take ownership, and work independently.
- Impeccable communication and relationship-management skills, across both internal and external constituencies.
- Strong project management and leadership skills as well as exceptional proposal writing and presentation skills.
- Experience building and selling cross-platform (broadcast, podcast, event, digital, social, etc) partnerships to align with sponsor goals - clear understanding of live event and podcast media and how they're sold is a must.
